| Abstract: | A hybrid, core-modified, expanded calixphyrin was synthesized, confirmed by single-crystal X-ray analysis, and found to exhibit aggregation-induced enhanced-emission (AIEE) characteristics. The aggregate formation was confirmed by HR-TEM analysis. The efficient emission in aqueous solution and in the solid state was utilized for metal-ion-sensing studies, which concluded a potential application for selective detection of HgII ions (see graphic). |
