dc.description.abstractTryptophan was oxidised by alkaline hexacyanoferrate(III), at constant ionic strength, yielding the α-keto acid. The rate of the reaction was dependent on the first powers of the concentrations of substrate and oxidant, but was independent of the concentration of alkali in the range studied. A mechanistic pathway has been suggested.en_US
