Abstract: The goal of this project is to understand the optical properties of Cu doped TiO2 nanorods synthesized by cost effective hydrothermal process. This is achieved using Titanium butoxide, Copper nitrate as precursor for Cu doped TiO2 nanorods in hydrothermal method. Samples are prepared in varying Cu concentrations. And these samples are characterized by FESEM, EDAX, Raman spectroscopy, Photolu minescence and XRD. We can get an understanding of how the morphology is on the samples with respect to added Cu concentration. The Raman spectra shows the vibrational modes due to composition the samples and distortion of TiO2 nanorod structure due to Cu doping. XRD data shows the sample’s crystal structure is a mixture of rutile and anatase.
